The sneaky sister! Part (1)
Hi, everyone!I am so glad to be back. I had an accident, and got hurt, but I am ok and thank God I am back! Thanks to everyone who sent caring emails it was very much appreciated. That being said, lets pick up where we left off. I know I left many of you in limbo....
Read the following story and see if you can guess why this this girl does not have a chance with the object of her desire.....
Lea rose from the tub and began to towel dry her pecan-brown skin happily. finally she had a date with Trevor! She had been trying to go out with this fine ass white boy since she had laid eyes on him. She had done everything to make him notice her. sexy clothes, new hair styles, sending him flowers, and leaving notes on his car. Nothing had worked. But now two years of hard work had finally paid off! Her girl Shae had finally arranged for Lea and Trevor to do a double date with her and her boyfriend mike. Lea was so excited she couldn't stop smiling. She took extra pains to make herself pretty. Although she would never be a natural beauty like her corny sister Shauna, she knew she was attractive and sexy. She especially planned to play up sexy tonight. She thought about how Shauna thought she was too good for everything. She actually thought calling a man was tacky unless he was already your boyfriend, she didn't believe in jumping in bed with a man just because you were attracted to him! God, she was so corny! how else were you supposed to know if he was worth the ride unless you rode the stallion?. What a dumb bitch she was! She giggled to herself about how jealous Shauna would be when her gorgeous date came in. She would probably forget to use that fake-ass accent she had used ever since she stayed with their grandmother back in the day. that would be so funny! She hated Shauna, she had always hated her! She was always the one who seemed to get everything. But tonight, she would finally show her up! She brushed her thick hair and carefully applied another layer of make up. Then she slipped into the new velvet green dress that displayed her voluptuous curves to the max, and hurried downstairs....
Shae had just arrived with the both men in tow. One was her boyfriend mike, whom she had yet to get down the isle, and Lea's date, Trevor. Trevor was telling mike about the Alan Jackson concert next month, and mike was reminding him for the third time that he did not care for country music. Shae laughed to herself. Trevor was really into the country music thing. wait until he found out that Lea thought it was corny and played out! Speaking of Lea, she hoped she would be on time tonight, that girl was always late! Shae hated being dragged into people's personal lives, but, she had finally asked mike to get Trevor to do a double because Lea had begged shamelessly. She stole a quick glance at Trevor. He was definitely worth begging for though. He stood well over 6 ft tall and had the shoulders of a linebacker. Yet, he seemed on the quiet side, a well educated, quiet man, who often seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. The weird thing was though, that he was a DJ and had a totally different personality on air! It was almost like music made him a different man. more vibrant, more in control, sexier and more charismatic... it was weird. Many women had tried to break into his inner world, yet, it seemed like an exercise in futility. He seemed so damn hard to read, and she had never seen him open up to anyone! Even now his eyes were looking off to the side almost like he was having an inner conversation with himself. Whatever, all she knew was that her girl had her work cut out. He was a hard one to figure out. flash and sex appeal didn't seem to be his thing, and she knew that was Lea's primary weapon against the opposite sex. Oh well, she only promised to get him to the date, the rest was on Lea...
She scowled as lea's dark and pretty sister, Shauna, came to the door to let them in. (she had never liked Shauna, who seemed to think she was the cat's meow) Shauna smirked at her and turned her pretty face toward the two men standing behind Shae. "hi- y'all I'm lea's sistah Shauna " she stuck out her hand, which to Shae's dismay, both men immediately grabbed for like a lifeline. Shae glared at her boyfriend, but he seemed not to notice or care. "Is Lea as pretty as you?" he asked, stupidly. Shae's mouth dropped open. He had seen Lea a hundred times -she and Shae were best friends! Shauna, smiled politely and shrugged. Shae was fuming. This bitch already thought she was God's gift, and his dumb ass had to go and confirm it! "Hello, I'm Trevor, so you're lea's sister huh, Shae was shocked to hear Trevor introduce himself to Shauna. "It's very nice to meet you," His eyes moved to the side, then re-focused on Shauna. is that a southern accent I hear in your voice?" Shauna's smiled grew a tad brighter. "why yes, Ah'v spent many many say-sons with my grandmotha in the s-o-u-t-h." she drawled. "Ah'v tried many tymes to get rid' of et" Trevor cocked his head to the side, as if her voice was coming from inside his head,"Well, why would you wanna do that?" He laughed. It's a beautiful accent" his eyes scanned her face, moved sideways and back to her face. Shae watched him, completely mystified, "why was he always looking sideways and away, then back to the person he was talking to? Was he that damn shy? Shauna on the other hand seemed to be almost reading him. What do ya do? She asked, out of the blue. Shae looked at her "why did she want to know? that was none of her business, he was'nt her date! Trevor, on the other hand didn't seem to mind. He glanced off to the side and back at Shauna. "Im a DJ, " he told her then looked away. When he looked back with a half smile, Shauna nodded like she understood something the others were too stupid to grasp. She lowered her tone, and a husky tinge edged into her voice. "Ah kin hear in yo voice how much you luv yo job, Ah'l just bett y' kin hear that sweet music in yo dreams, huh? Trevor turned to look at Shauna, very slowly his face seemed radiant for some god-forsaken reason. Shae couldn't figure out what was up, but something definitely was up. He had a very strange expression on his face. Then, he was telling shauna all about his job and running tracks and other DJ bullshit. Shae wondered when shauna had started to get so "into music" She peppered Trevor with questions. And the Trevor, who had always seemed so quiet and reluctant to talk, was happily telling Shauna anything she wanted to know. "Where are you-all goin t'nite?" Shauna asked him. She rested her hands on the side of the couch, and leaned her face against her hands, like a sideways prayer. "Ah ben hearin bout this date for weeks" "Oh, it's not a date" Trevor assured her. He had that strange expression on his face again. " we're just going to a concert in the park and then probably play it by ear from there, wanna come?" Shae looked at Trevor in horror. Did he not realize this WAS A Date? Lea would have a fit if her sister came! She breathed easier as Shauna began to shake her head no. "Ah'v got so much t' do for school and all, It sho sounds lyke fun but-" Trevor interrupted her. "oh c'mon Shauna, I can hear it in your voice that you wanna come, you've got my word-that we'll get you back early" The panic was back in Shae's throat again as she watched Shauna pretend to think it over. "Ah don't know... Ah raell-lay should study...my teacher is sho gonna give meh static if Ah' get even one bad gray-'de-" Trevor was persistent. " I know, I hear you-but listen, I will personally get you back early, right after the concert ok? think about it a night of beautiful music, something tells me you'll love it " "well, Ah certainly love the tone of a persistant man!" Shauna laughed. Shae cringed. What the hell was he doing? "Trevor, I don't think that's a good idea" she injected, she had to speak up, and fast!
"Whats not a good idea?" They all turned as Lea entered the living room and stood before them. She was fully made up with a skin tight green velvet dress. She was obliviously wearing a wonder bra that pushed her breasts up so high, they looked as if they were up for sale. Shae gave her a weak smile. "Lord, had this child never heard that less is more?" she thought silently. She watched as trevor's eyes looked Lea over then magnetically slid back to shauna. Who wore a sexy cut pair of jeans, a light button down sweater and a pair of low heels that accented her long legs without turning walking into a new kind of torture. Shauna's hair was long and sexily tousled, her make up so natural, you could only guess she was wearing it by assuming no one was so naturally pretty. and although you could make out the curves of her body, she was definitely not on display. Her look was young, sexy, vibrant. Lea's was, well shae did not even want to think about what lea's look implied. But to sum it up, she looked like the poster child for 'what not to wear' Shea had a sinking feeling she dared not put into words......She glanced at mike, who averted his gaze from her and moved toward the door...
To say that Lea was disappointed that shauna came was an understatement! She was livid. They all piled into Trevor's luxury truck, that problaby cost more than most people made in a year, and headed to the concert. Lea nearly had to shove shauna aside to sit next to trevor, but she managed to sit next to him. Oh well. " she had no business coming" she fumed. As soon as they got in, Trevor turned on the radio, and let a soft R&B song play. shauna seemed mesmerized by the music, and began to sway in her seat. Trevor seemed mesmerized by shauna's swaying movements, and Mike had to tell him twice to watch the road. Lea felt like slapping her. Instead she leaned onto trevor's arm and smiled up at him. "beautiful night huh?" she purred. He glanced past her at shauna who was now singing in perfect tune. "ah, yeah, great night" Was it her imagination or was his face brightening every time he looked at shauna? " She pressed her half-naked breasts against his arm. " It so chilly out here, I wish I had worn a jacket" she cooed. "but I sure didn't want to cover up this body!" she laughed nervously, realizing only shae laughed with her from the back seat."yeah, I can definitely see why you're cold" he answered in an unreadable voice. "maybe next time, you can find a whole dress!" Mike laughed from the back until shae poked him with her elbow. Lea felt her face grow hot. " I am wearing a whole dress," she said through clenched teeth. Trevor glanced down at her. He didn't seem fazed by her oblivious anger. "Well, perhaps next time they'll have it in your size. he quipped. Lea felt herself do a slow burn. She counted to 10 and took a deep breath. "look, Trevor-" she started in a high, agitated voice- Without warning, he reached down and turned the radio up as if he had not heard her. shauna again, began to sing with the music. "you have such a beautiful voice, " he smiled softly, as shauna sang. " Sing something else" he commanded as the music ended. Shauna turned off the music and then Suddenly, to everyone's amazement, she began to sing a naomi judd song, almost as well as the country diva herself! Everyone was stunned! Even mike pulled himself up to peer over the seat, to make sure it was her. Trevor's brows were arched high. "you like country?" he was starring at her with what could only be described as hypnotic fastination. shauna stopped singing, and nodded. "damn girl, you really march to the beat of your own drum don't you? and damn, can you sing!" his voice sounded low, enthralled, captivated. shauna laughed lightly and tossed her permed hair back. Lea was furious! I'll rip this slut's hair out! she seethed quietly. shauna was trying to steal her man! No wonder she and shae had never liked her, she was a two-faced back stabbing slut! She gave shauna such an evil glare, she was compelled to turn and look her way. Her eyes went wide with feigned innocence, that a blind man could see through. She knew exactly what she was doing. A moment later the innocent look faded and was replaced by smug assurance. 15 minutes later, they pulled up to the concert. The sky had the look of an impending, possible storm, but Shae knew without a doubt the real storm would take place between the two sisters later that night....
shae watched from the sidelines as shauna danced in perfect rhythm with trevor. Her anger at how her girl was being treated, was growing with each passing moment. Trevor and shauna seemed almost in tune with each other. As shae watched she could see that even their movements seemed to be synchonized. she could hear snatches of the conversation between them. trevor was inviting Shauna down to the radio station and she was happily accepting. She heard shauna say" Something tells me we have a lot in common- I major in music at school!" Everything she said, Trevor seem to find funny or fastinating. Shae felt sick. This bitch just walzes in and casts a spell over the man her girl had been trying to get for 2 years, and she thought she was gonna get away with it? She moved toward shauna, she was going to tell this bitch off. Mike saw the look on her face. "let it go shae, it aint none of your business" he told her, grabbing her right arm. shae jerked angrily away from him " If you think I'm gonna let this-" the sight of lea tearing by, swiping roughly at her face stopped her. Mike and shae followed her. Lea was leaning against the car wiping at angry tears. Shae wrapped her arms around her old friend and sighed. "what the hell does she have?" lea suddenly shrieked. Why is he so damn hynotised? what did she do to him? Shae shrugged helplessly. she didn't have a clue what to tell Lea. Both she and Lea both looked toward mike, the only male in close proximity. He seemed to be wrestling with his answer. Finally, he glanced at their angry, expectant faces and blurted "Well, for one thing, she tuned right into him and spoke his language perfectly!...." Shae and Lea exchanged glances "what the hell was mike talking about? Do you know? ....
1. what did he mean by that?
2. what did Lea do wrong from the start.?
3. what "spell" was shauna using?
4. why did Shauna pick that particular song to sing?
5. what was Trevor's Language?
See if you can figure out the answers before the next post!

Love the blog. Sorry to hear about the accident, but I'm glad you are doing well. I have no clue what the answer is, but I can't wait to find out. Have I mentioned how much I love your blog??
What I don't like about this story is that it justifies cat fighting between siblings and how getting a man trumps familial bonds. It's quite a popular narrative in patriarchal culture. Trevor is a complete jerk. There is no justification for his treatment towards Lea. Why is he being made into such a catch? Both sisters have their problems; Shauna knows how to play the game with a man: act coy and don't come off too smart or aggressive, observe his demeanor, learn what his interests are and then exploit them, let the man think you're chasing him when it's really the other way around. Be sexy but don't act like a trifling, desperate slut like Lea.
Lea on the other hand, is the typical girl who doesn't have enough self-esteem and therefore tries to overcompensate by being overtly sexual and competes in a losing battle with her sister. She blames her sister for Trevor's disinterest and already feels Trevor his her man, and instead of being disgusted by his behavior towards her, she uses her sister as the scapegoat for all her problems with this jerk....yawn!
First of all tell me anon. where it was implied that trevor was a catch. I don't feel like he was a catch at all! I thought he was rude! 2nd. I beleive very strongly in familial bonds and I would never do that to either one of my sisters and beleive strongly that they would never do that to me. That was NOT the point! Of course I would never advocate stealing your sister's man or anybody's man for that matter! But on that note Trevor was not Lea's man. He was her date! and yes-he was a bit of a jerk, that was not relevent because the story was an attempt to Demonstate a personality characteristic and nothing more. The moral attitudes or actions of the participants was NOT WHAT IT WAS ABOUT! -DID YOU SEE THE QUESTIONS AT THE BOTTOM-THAT IS WHAT THE STORY WAS ABOUT!-NOTHING MORE!
Anon.
you wrote me another long, arcane and uncalled for response, which I promptly deleted because as I tried to explain to you THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE DAMN STORY! THIS IS ABOUT THE LOVE LANQUAGE OF THE MAN IN QUESTION! You seem to have the need to argue about nothing and you have made it abundantly clear the story did not appeal to you-that is fine, nothing appeals to everyone, however you will not come here and insult ME ON MY BLOG! you must have fallen and bumped your head! If something does not appeal to you the sensible thing to do, as evia has often pointed out-is to go where you find what you want. This is not a debating blog. This is a teaching blog, there are plenty of blogs that will cater to your need to argue - I suggest you mosey on over to them....
Good luck -and please stay gone!
Wow, great story, Sara. The drama alone...lol But, I immediately saw that Lea was really trying too hard. She was what allot of others are saying.."desperate"...sistas. Whose main focus was on Trevor and getting Trevor by using sex.
Any "sane" woman would have moved on if he hadn't 'noticed' her by then. Are you sure he wasn't a "visual" man? Because he looked at the sister and immediately responded to her. Now, the sister did play low-key. Not doing too much and making sure she engaged him. She snagged him, because she read him and probably had been listening to Lea talk about him. She knew what he liked and what he was already. That's just my guess.

Hi Sara, wondered where you'd been; glad it was nothing too serious.
I'd say that since he was a dj, he was was a person that was mainly tuned in to things he could hear. When he met Shauna he said he could hear a southern accent in her voice. Asking him what he did is good for any kind of man (asking him to talk about himself... always worked on me:), but only after she had 'tuned in' on how to really communicate with him, through sound.
Lea went wrong by trying to show him a pretty picture, not talk pretty, which Shauna did.
Don't know about Naomi Judd ...?
Arthur:
Hey, I was here first! You follwin me around?-lol.
Sara:
Your ability to create a vivid characterization did me in on this one-sorry. For me all of these folks were just so basically unlikable, that I just couldn't concentrate on the point you were trying to make. Although, like Arthur, I could see that this guy was influenced by what he heard, he was just such a collosal jerk that I didn't care what happened to him or with him. Lea and her sister were, also, both walking, talking disasters that made me want to run, not walk, to the nearest exit!!
Again, you are a great writer and you were able to bring these folks to life in such a way, well, they were just so unpleasant that I didn't want to spend ANY time with them. I really like your stories, but could you make the next set of characters a little nicer so we will want to try an figure out what your saying instead of thinking, "you know what, these lowlifes DESERVE one another!! Whatever happens to them, serves them right."-lol.
I had the same thought after I wrote it grant, but was too tired to do a rewrite- point well taken.
sorry about what happened to you, love your blog, cant wait till next article. thank you
Oooo, Arthur, after reading your response I could definitely see that. It just went over my head.
